Urgent Appeal for help with the Junior Section
A need for assistance with an important part of club life. Though it's not essential to take things further this is also an opportunity for anyone interested in adding coaching to their skills.  It won't do the golf any harm either!!!

Junior Section

INFORMATION ABOUT THE FORMBY HALL JUNIOR SECTION.

The Junior Section has been in its present form for the past seven and a half years and is run by the Junior Coordinator and the Junior Committee, who organise all the competitions, games and social events for the juniors.

The owner has insisted that all new juniors, joining Formby Hall Golf Club must first be members of the Junior Section in order to complete three assessment cards (with a Committee Member or an Assistant Helper) to obtain a Club Handicap, or confirm their present handicap.

This assessment will also include training in relation to Standards of Etiquette, and both Local and PGA Rules in order to qualify for the Certificate of Competence.

Three Assessments must be completed before a junior can participate in Junior or Club Competitions (see rules regarding Club Competitions).

The Section is run in 3 Divisions according to handicap ie Division 1 (0 – 18.) Division 2 (19 – 28). Division 3 (29 – 36 (45). The juniors play in mixed ability groups with the more proficient golfer helping the less experienced.

A full range of competitions (in line with the Main Members’ Club) is played during the golfing year, including Monthly Medals, Stableford, Bogey and Junior Club Championship Competitions. There are also fun competitions, as well as “Dads and Lads”.

There are Inter – Club Matches Home & Away, plus entries into Junior Open Competitions. The first Formby Hall Junior Open Competition had nearly 100 youngsters taking part.

The Section has its own collection of Trophies and the winners of the major competitions are on the Clubs Junior Honours’ Boards. A Dinner is organised in November for Parents/Families and Juniors when all Trophies and Prizes are presented by the Club Captain.

Joining the Junior Section is an excellent way to make friends, gain confidence, keep fit and broaden your golfing experiences.
